THIS IS AN INTERVIEW BETWEEN ADAM YUDMAN & JUSTIN HARRIS. THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT POST WORKOUT PROTEIN.

This is for justin harris in nutrition, mainly for his experience with true protein
Ive
been looking for a post workout protein and i was wondering if you
could shed a little light on the different kinds. In terms of
aborsoption rates, what is the difference betwwen isolates, hydrolyzed
isolates both high and ultra grade….also, for someone not wanting to
break the bank is pepto pro really worth it? for 45 dollars a pound i
can’t seem to justify it to myself. Also, what do you know about their
gemma protein? ive heard its absoprtion rate is relatively slow so
would that make a good night time protein? And btw i have your dvd from
the seminar coming to me in the mail so i apologize if you covered any
of this in it.
I do cover some of that in the seminar, but it’s no problem covering it here too.
Don’t obsess too much about absorption time.
I
actually prefer pre and post workout shakes, which makes absorption
much less important, as the meal before the workout is actually
presenting the elevated blood amino acid levels that will fuel protein
synthesis after the workout.
I was at TrueProtein’s warehouse this summer when they were first bringing out the Gemma Protein.
The
amino acid profile is very advantagious to muscle growth. There is a
high amount of BCAA’s, high amount of L-leucine, and good amount of all
the essential amino acids.
As for Pepto pro….it does get absorbed very fast.
All things being equal, it is definitely worth it.
I
would recommend finding a good form of isolate that you can comfortably
afford, adding a small amount of pepto-pro to that, along with some
Anatrop.
That will provide more than enough highly bioavailable,
quickly absorbed amino acids with very high amounts of the amino acids
specific to protein synthesis.
The difference between all the isolates is purity.
Concentrates are much less protein per volume than isolates.
Isolates are much more pure. They have no fat or carbs.
Hydrosylates are then also partially digested.
We don’t take whole proteins up into the bloodstream.
We take the whole protein and break it down to tri-peptides and di-peptides to be absorbed and utilized.
The hydrosylates are already partially digested for quicker absorption.
