Heavy Band Resistance Squating & Deadlifting. Another Great Friday 11/02/07

by admin | November 5th, 2007

Had a Great Friday. This was our last week during our “Circa Max Phase”. The guy who trains me has his competition on Nov 17, 2007 and he was having his last day of Max Band Resistance.

I have to stress how much weight the bands add. When you are standing in the “lock out” position, the bands are equal to about 400lbs, probably even more, but i don’t ever want to over guess.  When you are sitting on the box, the band resistance is less, but it is still around 250lbs.

The object of the bands is for resistance, also to work on the eccentric/decentric part of the lifts.  Instead of it being like “dead weight” the bands are pulling the bar down causing you to have to stabalize it alot more.

This amount of band resistance is for for experienced lifters, this took us a couple of weeks to work up to, also last week the bar flew off my back because the resistance was so much. So trust me, start slow with them.

Box Squats with 2 Monster Blue Bands + 1 Mini Black
Top of Squat: 400lbs + Bar Weight

Kirk Karwowski 1003 Pound Squat w/ Walkout. IPF Too!

by admin | November 1st, 2007

This was just great, this guy walked out 1000lbs on his back and squated ass to the floor to nail this lift.

Also remember, he is lifting in the IPF, so the gear regulations are ALOT stricter.  And he even squats it close stance!

Great Speed Day Sqauts/Deads: Sept 22, 2007

by admin | September 22nd, 2007

I had a preety decent lifting day for my first week back and first time back using any gear. The gear is a little looser then i would like, but hey after 2 months off They fit fine.

Since this was a speed day i didnt have to go so heavy, just enough weight so i could do a fast 2 reps.

We used the chains today.

Squat Suit had the Straps Down

5 chains each side. Chains = 20lbs each. So an Additional 200lbs on the top of the Squat

I did 8 sets for speed work, all doubles.

240lbs + 200chains X 2

22lbs + 200chains X 2

220lbs + 200chains X 2

220lbs + 200chains X 2

220lbs + 200chains X 2

220lbs + 200chains X 2

220lbs + 200chains X 2

220lbs + 200chains X 2

After that was completed we deadlifted full range with Blue bands. The idea behind the bands is to explode out of the bottom to “outrace” the bands. On the top of the lift it had to be atleast 150-200lbs

8 Sets - Still focusing on Speed rather then poundages right now.

264lbs + 150-200bands X 2

308 + 150-200bands X 2

374 + 150-200bands X 1 - This got heavy for me, only got 1 rep

308 + 150-200bands X 1

308 + 150-200bands X 1

308 + 150-200bands X 1

308 + 150-200bands X 1

308 + 150-200bands X 1

Speed day Very Good, Videos to Follow in a bit once uploaded!
